Sikafloor 151 is a premium-grade, two-part, solvent-free, low-viscosity epoxy resin engineered for priming, levelling, and repairing concrete and cementitious substrates. Optimized for exceptional performance in hot and tropical climates, it is the ultimate foundation coat designed to ensure maximum adhesion for subsequent Sika epoxy and polyurethane flooring systems.

Formulated with advanced low-odor properties, it is perfectly suited for indoor projects and occupied facilities. Beyond its primary role as a deep-penetrating primer, its multipurpose formulation allows it to act as a high-strength binder when mixed with quartz sand to create self-smoothing screeds, fine-to-medium levelling mortars, or robust concrete repair patches.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Multipurpose Application: Functions as a high-penetration primer, scratch coat, self-smoothing intermediate layer, or heavy-duty repair mortar binder.

  • Low Odor & Solvent-Free: 100% solids formula with low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, making it highly ideal for indoor and confined workspace installations.

  • Exceptional Penetration & Bond Strength: Deeply penetrates concrete pores to provide a reliable mechanical lock, achieving tensile bond strengths that exceed the cohesive strength of standard concrete (≥ 1.5 N/mm²).

  • Excellent Fluidity: Low viscosity allows for fast, uniform application using a roller, brush, or squeegee.

  • Short Waiting Times: Fast-curing formulation significantly speeds up project timelines, allowing faster overcoating with topcoats like Sikafloor 264 SG.

  • Pre-Proportioned Industrial Kit: The 25 KG set is precisely batched (Part A + Part B) to eliminate mixing errors and guarantee optimal chemical cross-linking.

Primary Applications

Sikafloor 151 is specified across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure flooring preparation lines:

  • Priming concrete substrates, cement screeds, and epoxy mortars prior to resin applications

  • Base priming for low-to-medium absorbent or porous concrete surfaces

  • High-strength binder for fine or medium levelling scratch-coats to smooth out surface roughness

  • Binder for thick-layer epoxy screeds (15–20 mm) and structural repair patching

  • Foundational intermediate layer underneath Sikafloor industrial topcoats, parking garage systems, and ESD flooring solutions

Versatile System Configurations & Consumption Guide

The consumption figures below are theoretical and depend on surface porosity and profile:

  • Pure Priming: 1–2 coats of Sikafloor 151 applied at 0.35–0.55 kg/m² per coat.

  • Fine Levelling Mortar (Roughness < 1mm): 1 part by weight (pbw) Sikafloor 151 mixed with 0.5 pbw quartz sand (0.1–0.3 mm). Consumption is ~1.7 kg/m² per mm of thickness.

  • Medium Levelling Mortar (Roughness up to 2mm): 1 pbw Sikafloor 151 mixed with 1.0 pbw quartz sand (0.1–0.3 mm). Consumption is ~1.9 kg/m² per mm of thickness.

  • Epoxy Screed / Repair Mortar (15–20mm thickness): 1 pbw Sikafloor 151 mixed with 6 to 8 parts of graded quartz sand.

Application Instructions

1. Substrate Preparation

Concrete substrates must be sound and possess a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm². Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of laitance, ice, grease, oils, or loose coatings. Mechanical preparation via shot-blasting, scarifying, or diamond grinding is mandatory to create an open-textured profile. Vacuum the floor thoroughly to remove all dust before priming.

2. Mixing Protocol

Prior to blending, mix Part A (resin) thoroughly for 30 seconds using a low-speed electric mixer. Add the full contents of Part B (hardener) into the Part A container. Mix continuously for 3 minutes until a completely uniform, streak-free consistency is achieved. To avoid air entrainment, keep the mixer speed below 400 rpm and scrape down the sides and bottom of the container at least once during mixing.

3. Execution & Placement

  • As a Primer: Pour the mixed material onto the floor and distribute evenly using a brush, lint-free nylon roller, or squeegee, then back-roller in crosswise directions to avoid pooling. Ensure a continuous, pore-free coat covers the substrate.

  • As a Mortar / Screed: Pour the mixed liquid into a suitable pan mixer, gradually add the specified ratio of kiln-dried quartz sand, and mix for an additional 2 minutes until uniform before placing with a trowel or pin-rake.

4. Recoating Windows (At +30°C Tropical Climate)

  • Pot Life: ~15 minutes once mixed.

  • Minimum Waiting Time before topcoating: ~8 hours.

  • Maximum Overcoating Window: ~24 hours (if exceeded, mechanical profiling is required before applying subsequent layers).
